This morning we got some exciting news! The RAVE program here at the Arc. RAVE has been Chosen for the Pepsi Refresh program!!! So we need everyone’s help!!!! So here’s all the details:

WHAT: The Arc’s Recreation and Vacation Experience (RAVE) program has been chosen to compete for a $50,000.00 grant through the Pepsi Refresh Project. Pepsi is giving away millions in grants every month to fund ideas from individuals, non-profits and pro-social businesses that can make a positive impact in the community. The RAVE program has been chosen to participate in this exciting project for the month of March. The Arc is asking the community to vote for the RAVE program every day through March. Please help us get the vote out by spreading the word!

WHEN: March 1, 2010- March 31, 2010

WHY: Communities that play together, grow together. The Arc is asking the community to support recreation for people with disabilities by voting for the RAVE program through the Pepsi Refresh Project. Please take 30 seconds and vote for the RAVE program. You can sign in to the Pepsi Refresh Project at www.refresheverything.com or go to your Facebook page and connect to Pepsi Refresh Everything and vote from there. Please vote every day in March. It is easy, free and supports your friends and neighbors with disabilities living in Idaho.

What is RAVE?

RAVE stands for Recreation And Vacation Experiences. RAVE is the recreation program within The Arc inc. addressing quality of life needs of people with disabilities. Leisure time is utilized to explore opportunities for self fulfillment and expression. Programs are designed for small groups, incorporating individual and group decision making to help shape the experience. Vacation packages are offered throughout the summer and fall seasons. Winter and summer activities are based on participant interest.

All adventure days and vacations are lead by Arc staff and volunteers. Our leaders are committed to fostering individual choice and self expression, while building new friendships and having a safe and fun experience.

You may be asking who can participate. Well you do not need to receive services from The Arc, Inc. in order to join in RAVE fun. Anyone who enjoys meeting new people, is able to adjust to new routines and environments with a relatively short period of time, are able to attend personal care needs and able to function in a small group setting are welcome to join activities.

Adventure Days!

Adventure day activities are offered year round and range from whitewater rafting and scenic train rides to a day at the water park or attending a local event. Other adventure days include craft/art classes, bingo/game nights, dinner and movie, dances and seasonal events all year long!

Yes we do vacations

All of our vacations include:

*24 hour leadership at a 1:3 to 1:4 ratio

*Small groups of 6-9 vacationers

*All meals, menu and restaurant choice

*All trip leaders are experienced human service professionals

*Assistance with budgeting money and medications if requested

*All accommodations, transportation, entry fees, taxes and gratuities

*Leaders dedicated to making this your dream vacation!
